Boman Trading AB

Gösta boman

1919 - 2007

Founder of Boman Trading in 1953

Gösta Boman started the agency Boman Trading in 1953, after he had worked for a few years at International Textil, Gothenburg.

His original agency was German dress fabrics in celluloid from Süddeutsche Baomwolle Ind. (Esbi). Gösta developed and sold alone for many years, but in 1960 he hired a colleague, Ryno Wallin, as his partner, Ryno was active in the company for about 10 years.

Gösta was a profile in Marstrand in the 70s with his dog Dino (Italian Spinone) who always sat at the front of the flat mop or in the bow of Gösta's open "marstandssnipa".

Gösta's eldest son, Jalle Boman, (b. 1943) joined the company in 1965 and before that he had worked eight months at a wool weaving mill (Lorenz) in Aachen, Germany.
In 1961, Jalle went to the textile town of Prato and got a job as an errand boy at the textile agency Atlantica Vannini S.p.A.
The work consisted of going around on a moped and handing out all orders directly to the factories.
After 1½ years in Prato, Jalle went home and started at Boman Trading. Thanks to his knowledge of wool from Prato, the range was expanded with this.
Thanks to these jobs abroad, Jalle gained good knowledge of German, English and Italian, which has been extremely valuable in contact with our various suppliers and clients.

In 1980, Jalle took over the company after his father.

In 1987, Patric Johansson was hired as a salesman.
Together they expanded the range with wool fabrics from Prato and shirt fabrics from Austria etc.

Patric has been a part of the company since then and is today a sales manager at Boman Trading.

Jalles daughter, Kikki, joined the company in 1999 after also she, had lived and worked in Italy for Atlantica Vannini. In this way, she got the oppotuinity to learn and develop her knowledge for the textile industry before starting her employment at Boman Trading.
And so she did!
Kikki took over the company from her father in 2019, and is today running the company as CEO and sales manager.
The cooperation together with Atlantica Vannini has been very successful and kept on going  since the early 60th.
The past 26 years, Chiara Antonelli has been in charge for the Swedish market from Prato, together with Boman.
The excellent cooperation with Atlantica Vannini agency has made it possible for us to represent so many of the best suppliers in Prato.
During the years, Chiara has become more than just a colleague, also a friend and a member of the Boman family.

At the beginning of 2025, it unfortunately was decided that Atlantica would be wound up by the end of the year and that Boman would take over all work with Prato on their own.

In 2021, Kikkis daughter Tara joined the company.
Which made her the 4th generation of Boman working for the company.
She started as back office administartor for the Prato suppliers, working closely with Chiara Antonelli (Atlantica Vannini).
At the beginning of 2023, Tara moved down to Prato and worked on the Atlantica office, to develop her knowledge further.
She stayed here for 2 months.
At the beginning of 2025, it was decided that Tara would move down to Prato once again. This time to stay longer and take over the entire Prato area for all contact with suppliers, considering that Atlantica would be decommissioned the same year.
